The Hunger Games

Hi everyone!
I decided not to make this blog only about nature, but about what I'm currently doing and what I like!
I know that practically everyone has either watched or read The Hunger Games.
I haven't watched the movie yet though I would like to :-[[
Today I watched the trailer and I decided to give the Katniss braid a go.
Here's how it turned out:

I think it turned out great! I'm currently up to the second book of The Hunger Games series, Catching Fire. I haven't been able to read that much of it this week because I have been so busy with school work! And don't worry, I'll keep posting nature posts too! ^.^

Easter, bunnies, chocolate and friends!

Hi everyone, it's Mai Lan! Happy Easter! We had great fun this year, we ate so much chocolate!!!
Before easter my friend Charlotte came over and we had an Easter Bunny hunt! Afterwards we made a cute "bunny scene" and I took a photo:

Unfortunately, some of the bunnies' ears had gone...
We had a great time, everyone ate their chocolate contentedly and we all got sore stomachs that night.
Remember how I love nature? I also love all animals belonging to nature, like birds, and frogs.
Last year my sister and I caught a tree frog and put t in an barrel which used to contain yummy Kuranda Sweets so we could take a photo of it (the frog)! I thought it might be a good idea to include the cutest frog photo I managed to capture here on my blog:

Isn't it cute? We let it go afterwards into one of my mother's plants, and we're hoping it will come back again.
For Easter, my parents got a HUUUUUUUGE Easter egg!! I included the photo here because I think that egg is Epic!!!!!! My mum said she and my dad won't eat it alone, so we can have some too!! Personally, I odn't feel like having that egg. It's too beautiful to eat!! ;)

Isn't it huge?
For my birthday this year, which was in January, I got a new bird! My old bird, Bianca, was a white cokatiel, but she got eaten by a snake... :(
There are many species of snakes here in Australia, so I have to cover the cage with a cloth in the night so the snakes can't see the bird.
Here is the cutest photo of him:

My new bird's name is Sweety Tweety, and he's a boy so he can whistle tunes!
So far I have taught him "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands", but he only knows the first part.
A part from a bird, I also have a cat (below) and a dog (below as well)
The cat's name is Chocolate, and the dog's name is Jeannie.

My sister and I have made a TV show called "Meowlin", which is practically the same as the show Merlin, except with animals! (and stuffed toys)
You can check out our Meowlin channel here:Click here for our Meowlin Channel on YouTube!

but we haven't posted the actual series on YouTube because we don't want our idea stolen!!
 Happy Easter!

Cakes, outdoors and adventure

Hi everyone! Mai Lan here. Today I helped mum bake a cake: Chocolate fudge. It was delicious!
It was a chocolate fudge cake with vanilla icecream. Yum! I took some photos of the cake:

It was awesome baking the cake, but even more awesome to eat it!

Nature beyond understanding

Hi! My name is Mai Lan and I'm 12.
I love nature and spending time outside in the wild. I live in Cairns (which is in Australia), and there is LOTS of nature here. My sister Liesl Mei and I love exploring the wild. Our house is next to a forest, so sometimes we visit the forest with mum and dad. My mum loves nature too. Even though we have a pretty small garden, she plants just about every flower and tree there is! We're excited because it's been raining quite a lot, so our banana trees might grow fruit! I like bananas, and so does
my pet cockatiel, Sunshine.
Anyways, as you can see, I also love birds! Last week I took my binoculars and I went bird watching in our backyard...

After that we went up to our Gazebo, and my sister says she saw a fairy nest. I said it was only a tree stump, but she said she knew it was one because her friend Jonny has one in his backyard too, and she says it has mushrooms on it so it must be one.
So I took a photo of it and I'll post it here to make her happy :-)
